Al-Manathira Sewage Plant Now Operational

The Ministry of Planning has announced the completion of the sewage treatment plant project in Al-Manathira district, Najaf Governorate, marking a significant milestone in improving both environmental and service conditions for local residents. This announcement follows a recent visit by the ministry’s specialized field follow-up teams, who assessed the progress and completion of key phases of the project.

According to the Ministry’s statement, all major construction works, particularly the lifting and treatment stations, have been completed. The plant is now in the process of being tested and is expected to be put into service on a trial basis. Designed to process up to 30,000 cubic meters of sewage per day, the plant will provide essential services to around 120,000 residents in both Al-Manathira and Al-Hirah districts.

The project spans an area of 21 dunums and includes a primary transmission line, extending 1,650 meters to connect with the lifting station. The treatment process is carried out using advanced technology, including infrared rays to treat and sterilize sewage. This ensures that the water output is suitable for irrigation, providing a sustainable resource for agricultural use. The infrastructure also includes various support facilities, such as an administration building, laboratories, engineer housing, electricity systems, and an external perimeter fence.

This sewage treatment plant is set to greatly improve the quality of life in the district and surrounding areas. Not only will it enhance public health and sanitation, but it will also support agricultural development by providing treated water for irrigation purposes. The successful completion of this project is a key step toward improving environmental sustainability and infrastructure in Najaf Governorate.
