Al-Nasiriyah Plant to Drive Iraq’s Energy Future

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani, during a visit to Dhi Qar Province, officially launched the implementation of the Al-Nasiriyah Combined-Cycle Power Plant Project today.

Developed by the Germany company Siemens, the project, which is built on the site of the existing Al-Nasiriyah Steam Power Plant, aims to add 921 megawatts of electricity to Iraq’s national grid using natural gas.

The development of the new facility represents a major step forward for Iraq’s energy infrastructure. The plant is designed with future-ready technology, including the potential for hydrogen fuel integration.

The Iraqi government has demonstrated its commitment to securing efficient and sustainable power solutions for the country.
