Ancient Texts And Artefacts Found At Tello Site

Significant archaeological discoveries have emerged from the Tello site in Dhi Qar Governorate, revealing new insights into ancient Mesopotamian civilisations. Among the findings is the archive of Lugal Urshum Kal, a governor under the reign of King Naram-Sin of the Akkadian state, one of the most influential rulers of the era. This archive includes over 200 texts and 40 intricately carved cylinder seals, offering a glimpse into administrative and cultural practices of the time.

In another excavation area, a building from the Old Babylonian period was unearthed, adding a new layer to the understanding of architectural and urban developments in the region. Furthermore, newly discovered epic texts narrate stories about the goddess Ninkarsu, enriching the understanding of Mesopotamian mythology and religious life.
