Arab-Turkish Economic Forum Sparks New Pathways for Investment

Iraq’s Finance Minister, Taif Sami, participated in the 15th Arab-Turkish Economic Forum, held in Istanbul, alongside government officials, business leaders, investors, and Arab finance ministers. The forum aimed to strengthen economic and investment ties between Arab countries and Turkey, focusing on key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and technology.

In her speech, Minister Sami emphasised the significance of the Arab-Turkish economic partnership in promoting regional growth and financial stability. She highlighted the importance of this forum as an opportunity to share experiences and establish strategic, long-term partnerships, especially given the current global economic challenges. The Minister also called for an increase in joint investments and trade between Arab nations and Turkey.

Minister Sami further stressed the importance of completing the global trade corridor, leveraging Turkey and the Arab region’s strategic location to connect major markets in Asia, Europe, and Africa. She discussed how this could facilitate efficient trade and boost investment in energy corridors.

Moreover, she noted Iraq’s cooperation with the World Bank to establish and rehabilitate railways as part of the “Development Road” project, aimed at linking Asia with Europe, which holds strategic economic benefits for Iraq and the broader region.

On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister engaged in bilateral talks with Turkish officials and Arab counterparts to explore further financial and investment cooperation.
