An exhibition called “Dans l’Ombre de la Mésopotamie” took place in Baghdad at the French Institute. The event exhibited art pieces made with different methods, such as ink and lithography with a theme around the folds of the soul in the civilisation of Mesopotamia.
Lamia Al-Jewari, the artist of the exhibition, introduces 34 artworks which represent the 7,000-year-old civilisation through its different stages. The materials used include carved wood and stones to express the various experiences of the Mesopotamian civilisation throughout the years.
The artist has found a unique way to portray Iraq’s history and culture which many locals are learning about through contemporary art. The event is open until the 24th of July from 10am to 5pm.
