The Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, under the Ministry of Planning, has ramped up its efforts to ensure food safety in Baghdad. As part of its ongoing commitment to protecting citizens’ health, inspection teams conducted night-time field visits across various markets and shops in the capital. These visits, which took place on Tuesday, aimed to verify that displayed products met approved standards, expiration dates were accurate, and market owners were compliant with regulations.
The inspections focused on identifying expired or non-compliant products, which could pose a potential health risk. Legal action was taken against violators to enforce health and safety measures, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to consumer protection.
Dr. Eng. Fayyad Mohammed Abdul, the head of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, oversaw the field visits. He highlighted the importance of these intensified inspections, especially as the holy month of Ramadan approaches, with a surge in food purchases and consumption. Dr. Abdul emphasized the organization’s strategy to collaborate closely with security agencies to detect violations and ensure violators are held accountable.
These efforts underscore the organization’s ongoing mission to enhance consumer confidence in local markets and ensure public safety. The Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control remains firm in its stance, ensuring that no non-compliant or harmful products are allowed to compromise public health.
