Baghdad Theater: Transformations of Living and Things

On the sixth day of the fifth session of the Baghdad International Theater Festival, the National Theater hosted a captivating performance of “Transformations of Living and Things,” a play written by the late Qasim Muhammad and brought to life through scenography and direction by Munim Saeed.

This thought-provoking production delivered profound messages, exploring the challenges of human coexistence in various circumstances. Through a visually artistic narrative, the story depicted puppets that transform into humans on stage. However, disillusioned by the conflicts and harm of human interaction, they chose to retreat to the virtual world of puppets, seeking solace away from hatred and disputes.

Munim Saeed employed modern techniques in a contemporary Asian-inspired style, creating a dynamic performance. The production also highlighted the physical artistry of young performers, showcasing innovative use of body movement and theatre spaces.

The play’s blend of poignant themes, innovative direction, and fresh talent reflects the essence of the Baghdad International Theater Festival, celebrating creativity and cultural dialogue on a global stage.
