The QS World University Rankings for Sustainability 2025 have recognised 8 Iraqi universities for their efforts in sustainable development. This ranking evaluates nearly 1,800 universities worldwide based on three key pillars. These are; environmental impact, social impact and governance. The University of Baghdad led Iraq’s representation, followed by: University of Anbar, Al-Nahrain University, University of Babylon, Al Mustansiriya University, Northern Technical University, University of Tikrit and University of Mosul.
Iraq continues to excel in global university rankings. Over 100 Iraqi institutions actively participate in eight major international rankings. Iraq has the 29th place globally in the universities listed by the Times Higher Education World Rankings. Also, 7th place globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for Sustainable Development.
This recognition reflects Iraq’s dedication to encouraging sustainable development through higher education. Iraqi universities are integrating more environmental, social, and governance factors into their policies and practices.
