Baghdad Welcomes Diplomats for 8th Ambassadors Conference

The 8th Ambassadors Conference opened in Baghdad on November 25, 2024, under the theme “Towards an Effective Diplomacy with Multiple Tracks in a Changing World.” Organised by Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference is a significant diplomatic event that underscores Iraq’s growing role on the international stage. It is a testament to the country’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and multilateral diplomacy across various regions.

The first day of the conference featured five sessions, each focused on pivotal diplomatic issues and designed to build bridges between Iraq and its global partners. The conference’s high-profile participants included Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Fuad Hussein, along with senior diplomats and ambassadors from various countries.

This conference is an important milestone in Iraq’s foreign policy, reflecting the country’s diplomatic maturity and its ability to foster meaningful international dialogue. By hosting such a high-level gathering, Iraq is positioning itself as a hub for diplomacy in the Middle East and beyond. The final session on consular affairs focused on Iraq’s progress in streamlining services for its citizens abroad, including the introduction of electronic passport systems in diplomatic missions.
