Basra Civilisation Museum Hosts Iraqi Tourism Promotion Forum

The Basra Civilisation Museum recently hosted the Iraqi Tourism Promotion Forum under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and in collaboration with the local government of Basra Province. This significant event, themed “Iraq’s Tourism: Civilisation and Authenticity from Basra… Promoting Iraq’s Tourism,” aimed to showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage of Iraq, particularly in the Basra region.

Attendees included Mr Abbas Al-Yasiri, the Prime Minister’s advisor, alongside various local, Arab, and international figures, all gathered to discuss the potential of Iraq’s tourism sector. Mr Hussein Al-Rubaie, Director of Basra’s Tourism Department, outlined the forum’s objectives, emphasising the importance of highlighting key tourist and archaeological sites in the province. Through engaging presentations and a data show display, the forum sought to promote these locations as major tourist attractions, showcasing the unique experiences Iraq has to offer.

In addition to the presentations, the forum provided participating delegations with an opportunity to explore Basra’s sports landmarks, including the impressive Palm Trunk Stadium. This tour not only highlighted the city’s modern sporting facilities but also underscored the importance of integrating tourism with sports to enhance Iraq’s appeal as a diverse travel destination.
