Under the patronage and supervision of Minister of Health Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, Iraq’s Ministry of Health has signed a cooperation agreement with Bayer Germany to advance the healthcare and awareness sector. The signing ceremony, held on February 5, 2025, was attended by German Ambassador Ms. Christiane Hohmann, alongside senior officials from both parties.
The agreement, signed by Dr. Ahmed Abbadi, Director of the Directorate of Specialized Centers, on behalf of the Ministry of Health, and Mr. Hugo Hagen, Regional Director of Bayer – Middle East and North Africa – aims to enhance Iraq’s public-private healthcare partnership and improve medical services nationwide.
Minister Al-Hasnawi highlighted that this collaboration will contribute to the development of Iraq’s healthcare system, focusing on specialised medical centers and the availability of advanced treatments for conditions such as retinal diseases, prostate cancer, blood disorders, and hemophilia. Additionally, the agreement includes the introduction of modern electronic systems and awareness programs to facilitate early diagnosis and improved treatment methods.
This strategic partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing medical infrastructure, ensuring access to innovative treatments, and strengthening healthcare sustainability in Iraq.
