The Iraqi Water Polo Club Championship recently concluded at the closed Olympic Al-Shaab Pool in Baghdad, featuring participation from six clubs representing various provinces across Iraq. Organised by the Iraqi Aquatic Sports Federation, the tournament culminated in the Army Club claiming first place, with the Popular Mobilisation Forces Club securing a commendable second. The clubs of Al-Adhamiya and Peshmerga shared third place equally.
The Iraqi Central Swimming Federation oversees aquatic sports in the country, including swimming, water polo, and diving. The federation plays a crucial role in organising a wide range of activities, championships, festivals, and training courses aimed at enhancing sports awareness and broadening the participation base in aquatic sports throughout Iraq.
The championship not only highlighted the competitive spirit of the clubs but also served as a celebration of water polo in Iraq, bringing communities together through the love of the sport. As the event concluded, it became clear that these athletes are not only champions in their own right but also play a vital role in inspiring the next generation of water polo players in the country.
