CSCEC Starts Building Modern Hospital in Iraq

In a significant step towards strengthening Iraq’s healthcare infrastructure, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a 100-bed hospital in Suq Al-Shuyukh district, Dhi Qar Governorate. The project marks a crucial public welfare initiative aimed at improving healthcare services in the region.

The official launch of the project was announced via video link by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani and Minister of Health Saleh Mahdi Al-Husnawi. The groundbreaking ceremony saw the presence of key officials, including Dhi Qar Governor Muhammad Mortada Al-Ibrahimi and the director of the health department of Dhi Qar Governorate.

Spanning a total construction area of approximately 32,000 square meters, the hospital is designed to serve as a comprehensive healthcare facility. The structure will feature one underground level and five above-ground floors, accommodating state-of-the-art medical equipment and services.

As part of Iraq’s broader efforts to modernise its medical infrastructure, the project is expected to provide improved healthcare access to residents of Dhi Qar and surrounding areas. The initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing public health services and ensuring better medical care for its citizens.
