In alignment with directives from the Secretariat of the Prime Minister, the Center for Studies and Research recently hosted an awareness seminar on cybersecurity, focusing on its critical role in protecting document confidentiality and personal data integrity in the digital realm. The event was organized in collaboration with the Children’s Culture House and was attended by key figures, including Dr. Ismail Suleiman Hassan, Director General of the Children’s Culture House, and the Director of the Studies and Research Center.
The seminar featured Dr. Imran Kazim Al-Karkoshi, Director of Media and Public Relations at the University of Karbala, who provided in-depth insights into the complexities and vulnerabilities within cybersecurity. He highlighted how cyber risks often involve decoding and transforming information, particularly cultural content, into symbolic representations, making it susceptible to control and manipulation. Dr. Al-Karkoshi also discussed “cyberpsychology” and its influence in areas marked by intense conflict, explaining how such dynamics contribute to “cyber myths”—misconceptions and fears that can impede technological progress and societal adaptation.
Dr. Hassan contributed to the discussion by highlighting the importance of robust cybersecurity measures within government institutions. He affirmed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities’ commitment to reinforcing cybersecurity through the implementation and activation of relevant laws and regulations, signaling the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with other entities to strengthen digital defenses and protect national interests.
