Deputy Minister Inspects Dry Gas Pipeline Progress in Basra

In line with the directives of Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Engineer Hayan Abdul Ghani Al-Sawad, the Deputy Minister of Oil for Gas Affairs, Dr. Izzat Saber Ismail, visited Basra to assess the progress of the dry gas pipeline project.

Accompanied by the Director General of the Oil Projects Company, Engineer Ali Ward Hammoud, Dr. Ismail inspected work at Khor Al-Zubair Port, where the project is advancing towards completion.

The visit focused on the receiving arms platform of the dry gas pipeline, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing Iraq’s energy sector by supplying gas to power generation stations. The Deputy Minister commended the Oil Projects Company teams for adhering to the project timeline and technical standards.

The 40 km pipeline, extending from Khor Al-Zubair to the Shatt Al-Arab regulator, has a 42-inch diameter. Work is progressing rapidly, executed by national workforce teams from the Oil Projects Company (SCOP).

During the visit, the Deputy Minister and the Director General also met with Dr. Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director of the Iraqi Ports Company, to discuss logistical aspects and project requirements at Khor Al-Zubair Port. Dr. Al-Fartousi affirmed the company’s support in facilitating the project and commended the Oil Projects Company’s efficiency.

As Iraq invests in infrastructure projects to strengthen its energy sector, the dry gas pipeline remains a crucial step in ensuring a stable and sustainable electricity supply.
