Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Dr. Muhammad Ali Tamim, held a meeting with the Governor of Nineveh, Mr. Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil, and his accompanying delegation to discuss key issues concerning the governorate’s ongoing projects and upcoming population census.

The meeting focused on the progress of various projects under the Regional Development Program, with particular attention to the completion rates and the challenges facing their implementation. Dr. Tamim emphasised the importance of ensuring optimal conditions for these projects to be completed on time, as they are critical for Nineveh’s development.

In addition to reviewing project progress, the discussion also covered Nineveh’s preparations for the general population and housing census, set to take place on November 20, 2024. The census, a significant national undertaking, is already underway with numbering and enumeration activities having commenced in all governorates on September 1. These activities are scheduled to continue through October 30.

Dr. Tamim commended the efforts of the local government in Nineveh for its support in facilitating the census process and urged all governorates to continue their efforts to ensure the success of this major developmental project. He highlighted the importance of the census in shaping the future of Iraq’s governance and distribution of resources, calling it a key step in redrawing the map of entitlements for governorates and citizens alike.

The Ministry of Planning aims to ensure that the census is conducted efficiently, providing accurate data that will contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
