Development Road Project Gains Momentum in Iraq-Türkiye Talks

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani chaired a pivotal meeting today of the committee responsible for implementing the agreements and memoranda of understanding between Iraq and Türkiye. This committee session aimed to assess progress on various collaborative projects signed during the Turkish President’s recent visit to Baghdad.

Key topics included the Strategic Framework Agreement, focusing on infrastructure projects for water resources, where both nations have committed to principles of fairness and neighbourly cooperation. Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasised the need to expedite these efforts to address water resource challenges, an area critical to the region’s stability and sustainable development.

The Development Road Project, an initiative under a quadrilateral agreement with Türkiye, Qatar, and the UAE, was also a priority discussion. This project seeks to improve connectivity and boost trade between Iraq and its regional partners, and the committee reviewed the current progress, identifying challenges and delegating responsibilities to accelerate its advancement.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani’s leadership in this meeting highlighted the government’s commitment to overcoming obstacles, fostering partnerships, and ensuring the timely execution of all collaborative projects. These initiatives highlight Iraq’s dedication to strengthening bilateral relations with Türkiye while driving economic growth and infrastructural development across the region.
