Eng. Abdul Khaliq Al-Khafaji, Director General of the Engineering and Technical Affairs Department, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing Kirkuk Olympic Stadium project. This visit, which included the head of the Resident Engineer Department overseeing the project, aimed to review and assess the progress across various sections of the large-scale development.
Key areas of focus included the completion of planting the similar square with winter seeds to ensure seasonal compatibility and the advancement of structural work involving the pouring of pillars and column bases for the stadium’s iron roof. This phase marks a significant step towards establishing the stadium’s distinctive design and durability. Additionally, the team inspected the process of laying artificial turf for the training stadium, which is essential for facilitating year-round sports practice and events.
The Kirkuk Olympic Stadium is set to be a landmark in Iraqi sports infrastructure, featuring a main stadium with a capacity to host 23,000 spectators. The project also includes four supplementary training stadiums designed to provide comprehensive facilities for athletes. Complementing the sports venues is a modern hotel building with 20 suites, which aims to accommodate teams and officials, fostering a full-service experience for major sporting events.
Eng. Al-Khafaji’s visit reflects the commitment to ensuring high standards and timely completion, showcasing the Ministry’s dedication to enhancing sports facilities in Iraq.
