Diwaniyah and Al-Qadisiyah University Collaborate on Census

Dr. Maki Ghazi Al-Muhammadi, Vice President of the Statistics and Geographic Information Systems Authority, visited Diwaniyah Governorate today, Wednesday, to review the preparations for the upcoming population census, set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, 20-21 November. During his visit, he met with Diwaniyah’s Governor, Mr. Abbas Al-Zamili, to discuss the details of the work plan, the readiness of personnel, curfew measures, and the collaborative role of the local departments in ensuring the census’s smooth execution.

Governor Al-Zamili confirmed that the local government is fully prepared to provide the necessary resources and support to ensure the success of the census in Diwaniyah. Both leaders emphasized the importance of coordination between government bodies and local authorities in facilitating an effective and efficient process.

In addition to his meeting with the Governor, Dr. Al-Muhammadi visited Al-Qadisiyah University, where he met with Dr. Kazem Jabr Al-Jubouri, the President of the university. The discussion focused on encouraging active participation from the university’s teaching staff and students in the upcoming census. Dr. Al-Muhammadi highlighted the significance of the census for national development and urged the university to support the enumeration teams, offering its cooperation to address any potential challenges.

Dr. Al-Muhammadi expressed his gratitude to Dr. Al-Jubouri for the university’s ongoing support for the census initiative and for promoting the importance of the project within the academic community.

The meetings, attended by the Director of the Diwaniyah Statistics Department, were pivotal in strengthening the collaboration between local government, academic institutions, and the Statistics Authority to ensure the success of the population census in the governorate.
