Efficient Sewage Management with SCADA in Baghdad

The Baghdad Municipality, in collaboration with the Baghdad Sewerage Department, has announced the successful operation of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for managing, monitoring, and operating sewage stations across the capital. This advanced system leverages cutting-edge international technologies to enhance the efficiency and reliability of sewage management, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.

The SCADA system is designed to monitor and control the operation of sewage stations, as well as power lines and generators that keep these stations running. This comprehensive oversight is conducted from a state-of-the-art central operations room, which becomes fully activated during rain waves to ensure the city’s drainage operations are managed urgently and systematically.

By adopting this system, the Baghdad Municipality aims to improve water drainage processes, minimise the risk of flooding, and ensure a swift response to emergencies in all areas of the capital. This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies into its infrastructure to provide better services to residents and maintain urban resilience.
