Eid Al-Fitr Iraq 2025: Traditions and Celebrations

Iraqis across the country are celebrating Eid al-Fitr today, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan with prayers, family gatherings, and festive traditions. Mosques were filled early in the morning as worshippers attended Eid prayers, embracing the spirit of unity and gratitude.

In Baghdad, streets are adorned with colourful decorations, and families visit parks, restaurants, and public spaces to celebrate the occasion. Traditional sweets like baklava, and ma’amoul are shared among relatives and friends, while children receive eidiya—small gifts or money from family members and closest friends.

In cities like Mosul and Basra, community events and cultural performances have added to the joyous atmosphere.

For many Iraqis, Eid is also a time to remember those in need. Charitable initiatives, including food distributions and support for displaced families, highlight the enduring spirit of generosity during the holiday.

As Iraqis come together to celebrate, Eid al-Fitr serves as a reminder of resilience, faith, and the shared traditions that unite communities across the country.
