The Assistant Director General for Technical Affairs of Iraqi Ports, Eng. Abdul Sada Khalaf, along with relevant departments, has reviewed a presentation by the international company Webb Fontaine on implementing a port community system.
According to Eng. Khalaf, this initiative aligns with the directives of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, and the Director General of Iraqi Ports, Dr. Farhan Al-Fartousi. Both officials have emphasised the importance of integrating electronic systems that meet international standards across the company’s operations. The leadership is working diligently to transition from paper-based processes to a fully electronic system.
Webb Fontaine’s proposal includes advanced systems for tracking goods, electronic payments, clearance, and integration with port-supporting entities such as customs and other relevant departments. All of this would function seamlessly on a single electronic platform, aiming to enhance efficiency and streamline operations at Iraq’s ports.
