Honeywell Signs Agreement with Iraqi Energy Sector

Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani, visited the headquarters of Honeywell, a leading American company specialising in energy and technology solutions. During the visit, he met with top company officials to discuss expanding cooperation in Iraq’s energy sector and refining industry.

The meeting focused on advancing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in May 2024 between Iraq and Honeywell. This agreement, signed in the presence of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, aims to modernise Iraqi refineries and enhance the country’s national energy capabilities.

The Iraqi delegation, which included senior officials such as Izzat Saber, the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Gas Affairs, and Falah Al-Amiri, Prime Minister’s Advisor, emphasised Iraq’s commitment to leveraging Honeywell’s expertise to support its energy development goals. Discussions covered potential projects in refining and the integration of advanced technologies in Iraq’s energy infrastructure.

Other key attendees at the meeting included Mr. Naseer Aziz, Director General of the Studies, Planning, and Follow-up Department; Mr. Alaa Al-Yasiri, Director General of the Economic Department; the Director General of the Southern Refineries Company; Mr. Ali Jassim, Director of the Research Center; and Mr. Hawri Mohammed Gharib Talabani, the Iraqi Consul in Houston, along with representatives from the Iraqi Embassy in the U.S.

The visit reflects Iraq’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its partnerships with global companies like Honeywell to modernise its energy sector and support long-term economic development.
