Under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shi’a Al-Sudani and the guidance of Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Ahmed Fakkak Al-Badrani, the Iraqi Manuscripts House at the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage launched the “Husseini Heritage Manuscripts” exhibition. This event commemorates Imam Hussein (AS) by displaying ancient manuscripts that reflect his history and character. Additionally, an accompanying Arabic calligraphy exhibition featured fifty-eight works by Mohammed Al-Mashrafawi, symbolising the Imam’s age at the time of his martyrdom.
Dr. Ahmed Karim Al Olaiwi, Director General of the Manuscripts House, highlighted that the exhibition is a significant cultural initiative focused on manuscript heritage, honouring a pivotal figure in both local and international culture. He emphasised that the Ministry, the Commission, and the Iraqi Manuscripts House are dedicated to preserving intellectual identity through written records, presenting them to the public during major events like the Arbaeen pilgrimage, which draws millions of visitors from around the world.
The exhibition was officially opened by the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Mr. Qasim Taher Al-Sudani, and attended by notable figures including Prime Ministerial advisors, President of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, Mr. Ali Obaid Shalgham, and others. The event also attracted various general managers from the Ministry, cultural leaders, researchers, and visitors to the Iraqi Museum.
