Every year, thousands of visitors from Iraq and internationally gather to pay their respects at the shrine of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim, in the Kadhimiya district.
Dating back to the 16th century, the shrine is one of Iraq’s most historically and religiously significant sites. It is known for its golden domes and detailed minarets, showcasing the elegance of Islamic architecture.
The shrine has a spacious courtyard, Quran inscriptions and historic gates such as Bab Al-Qibla and Bab Al-Murad.
The shrine in Kadhimiya serves as a centre for religious gatherings and social events. It contributes massively towards the city’s tourism, particularly during major pilgrimage events such as Ashura.
