The Rapporteur of the Iraqi House of Representatives, Ghareeb Askar Al-Turkmani, met with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarak, in Baghdad. The meeting focused on the pressing need to support the youth and sports sector in Kirkuk Governorate, highlighting the importance of providing resources to local clubs and popular teams.
During the discussions, Minister Al-Mubarak agreed to launch several financial grants aimed at supporting these clubs, along with supplying sports equipment to enhance the capabilities of emerging teams. This initiative reflects a commitment to fostering local talent and encouraging community participation in sports.
Furthermore, Minister Al-Mubarak expressed his willingness to approach Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani for approval to construct a large football stadium in the Taza Khurmatu district, which would accommodate up to 10,000 spectators. This project is part of broader efforts to improve sports infrastructure in Kirkuk and meet the recreational needs of its citizens.
The meeting reflects the ministers’ commitment to investing in youth development and sports within the region.
