Iraq and Finland Strengthen Bilateral Ties

On Tuesday, July 2nd, Deputy Dylan Ghafour Saleh, Chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee, hosted Finnish Ambassador Ms. Anu Saarela at the Iraqi Council of Representatives. This inaugural visit aimed to bolster Iraq-Finland relations.

The discussions centered on potential joint legislative and diplomatic efforts and the exchange of expertise between the two nations. They also reviewed the regional political landscape. Both parties highlighted the importance of activating a joint friendship committee and expanding collaboration across various sectors.

Deputy Saleh highlighted the need to encourage Finnish companies to invest in Iraq. Ambassador Saarela agreed, emphasising Finland’s long-standing business presence in Iraq. She showcased brochures detailing the construction of the Conference Palace by a Finnish company, symbolising successful bilateral cooperation. This meeting marked a significant step towards enhancing Iraq-Finland ties and promoting mutual interests.
