Iraq and South Korea to Cooperate in Energy and Infrastructure

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Iraq, Mr. Goo Seung-soo, at the Ministry’s headquarters, marking the conclusion of his diplomatic mission in Iraq.

Minister Fuad Hussein expressed his deep appreciation for the ambassador’s contributions during his tenure, highlighting his efforts in strengthening the longstanding friendly and cooperative relations between Iraq and South Korea. He commended the significant role of Korean companies in advancing strategic projects across Iraq, reaffirming the Iraqi government’s ongoing support for these companies and its commitment to fostering further collaboration.

Ambassador Goo Seung-soo reflected on the distinguished ties between Iraq and South Korea, underscoring his country’s dedication to deepening cooperation, especially in the fields of investment, infrastructure, and energy. He also affirmed the continued commitment of Korean companies operating in Iraq to expanding their efforts and contributing to the country’s reconstruction and development initiatives.

The meeting concluded with Minister Fuad Hussein extending an official invitation to his South Korean counterpart to visit Iraq, aiming to explore new avenues for strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in key sectors of mutual interest.
