The Iraqi government is intensifying its efforts to complete the census procedures scheduled for November 20th, 2024. The general population census aims to provide comprehensive statistical indicators on demographic, social, economic, and housing variables at the level of the smallest administrative units, covering both urban and rural areas. It also aims to conduct sample demographic surveys between censuses, such as surveys on life phenomena, fertility, and migration. Additionally, the Directorate is responsible for analysing census and survey results and preparing population projections.
