Iraq Invests in Human Capital for a Sustainable Future

The Ministry of Planning, held its first national conference under the slogan “Investing in People.. Building for the Future,” to improve human capital in Iraq. Organised by the Department of Human Development in collaboration with the World Bank, the event gathered key ministers, international organisations, and civil society representatives.

Dr. Tamim emphasised that the human capital project is central to Iraq’s efforts to cultivate a generation that can actively contribute to the nation’s progress. He highlighted that the National Development Plan 2024-2028 prioritises education, healthcare, and job creation to boost human capital, alongside infrastructure improvements and digital transformation.

The World Bank’s representative, Bilal Rabah Al-Saghir, noted that this conference marks a significant step towards sustainable reforms and economic stability in Iraq. The event featured the launch of the “National Human Capital Forum,” a digital platform to track indicators related to human capital development. Dialogue sessions focused on education, healthcare, job creation, and social protection, exploring solutions to challenges and opportunities for future growth.

The conference represents a landmark moment in Iraq’s drive towards sustainable human capital development.
