Iraq Joins United Nations 2024 World Space Forum

Iraq, represented by the Ministry of Transport’s Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, participated in the United Nations World Space Forum 2024 in Bonn, Germany. Eng. Ghada Hashem Hassan and Mr. Ahmed Abdul-Ridha Hassan from the Communications and Media Commission joined 450 representatives from 94 countries under the theme “Sustainable Space for the Sustainability of the Earth.”

The forum addressed critical topics shaping the future of space exploration and sustainable space activities. Iraq’s participation aligns with its preparations to launch a dedicated satellite for space imaging and Earth observation, an ambitious step towards strengthening the nation’s space capabilities.

This engagement provided Iraq with a platform to exchange expertise, explore technological advancements, and adopt best practices from leading spacefaring nations. It also highlights Iraq’s commitment to leveraging space technology for sustainable development, particularly in sectors overseen by the Ministry of Transport.

Through participation in global initiatives like the World Space Forum, Iraq reaffirms its dedication to international cooperation and innovation, ensuring space exploration contributes to the sustainability of life on Earth.
