His Highness the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, received Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, at Bayan Palace on Tuesday, 22 April 2025.
At the outset, Minister Hussein conveyed warm greetings from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. He praised the longstanding fraternal ties and historical bonds uniting Iraq and Kuwait.
During the meeting, Mr Hussein delivered an official invitation on behalf of the Iraqi President to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to attend the upcoming Arab Summit set to take place in Baghdad next month. The Crown Prince welcomed the invitation and reaffirmed Iraq’s vital role as a founding member of the Arab League.
Minister Hussein expressed Iraq’s hope for active Kuwaiti participation in the summit, which he described as timely given current regional complexities. He also referred to Iraq’s continued engagement with the Iran–US negotiations, voicing hope for positive outcomes and reaffirming Baghdad’s support for the diplomatic process.
The two sides reviewed means of strengthening bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres. Minister Hussein noted that relations are progressing positively and highlighted the shared objective of regional stability.
They also exchanged views on pressing regional and international developments, agreeing on the necessity of coordination and collaboration to address mutual concerns and promote security across the region.
