Iraq, Libya Discuss Reviving Ties: Investment and Cooperation

Iraq’s Acting Chargé d’Affaires in Libya, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahaf, met with Mr. Taher Al-Baawor, the Libyan Foreign Ministry’s acting head, with the aim of  strengthening ties and usher in a new era of cooperation, . The meeting, held in Tripoli, focused on revitalising Iraqi-Libyan relations across a range of sectors.

Discussions centered on holding political consultations between the two nations, a strategy to diversify investment opportunities, and the potential signing of joint memorandums of understanding.

Dr. Al-Sahaf emphasised Iraq’s desire for collaboration in economic and investment spheres. This focus on economic partnership aligns with the Iraqi government’s goal of expanding investment opportunities, especially following the reopening of the Iraqi Embassy in Tripoli after a ten-year hiatus.

Mr. Al-Baawor commended Iraq’s leadership under Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, particularly their efforts to bring regional stability. Both sides expressed a commitment to developing closer bilateral relations and restoring Iraq’s prominent role in the region.
