Iraq Offers New E-Visa Option

The Ministry of Interior of Iraq has announced a new system for obtaining an Iraqi visa through an online electronic application, known as the e-visa. This new system is designed to simplify the visa application process, making it more accessible to tourists and visitors. To apply for the e-visa, applicants need to complete an online form, providing essential documents such as a valid passport, details of their accommodation in Iraq, basic personal information, and the necessary application fee. Once granted, the e-visa allows travellers to stay in Iraq for up to 30 days, offering enough time to explore the country’s rich cultural heritage and historical sites.

In addition to the e-visa, Iraq offers a visa on arrival for nationals from several countries, including the United Kingdom, People’s Republic of China, Russian Federation, French Republic, European Union countries, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. This visa on arrival option is particularly convenient for travellers from these countries. The visa is valid for 60 days, providing a longer stay period, and requires a fee of $75, payable in cash.

This new approach to visa issuance is part of Iraq’s broader effort to boost tourism and facilitate easier access to the country. By simplifying the visa process and offering flexible options, Iraq aims to attract more international visitors, enabling them to experience the country’s unique historical and cultural attractions. The initiative reflects Iraq’s commitment to enhancing its tourism infrastructure and promoting a welcoming environment for travellers.
