Iraq Supports Weightlifting at Bahrain Championships

Dr. Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, Iraq’s Minister of Youth and Sports, attended the second day of the World Weightlifting Championships in Manama, Bahrain. The event, featuring participation from over 92 countries, serves as a global platform for weightlifting talent.

Accompanied by key figures including Mohammed Hassan Jaloud, President of the International Weightlifting Federation, and Ishaq Ibrahim, President of the Bahrain Weightlifting Federation, Al-Mubarqa inspected the championship venue and engaged with sports officials from various countries. He was provided with an overview of the tournament’s stages and the state-of-the-art facilities prepared for the athletes and spectators.

Minister Al-Mubarqa emphasised that his presence in Bahrain was part of Iraq’s ongoing commitment to supporting its athletes at the international level, in line with the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. Additionally, Al-Mubarqa reaffirmed Iraq’s dedication to supporting Mohammed Hassan Jaloud, an Iraqi national, in his efforts to continue leading the International Weightlifting Federation.
