Iraqi Cultural Showcase in Tunisia Celebrates Mesopotamian Heritage

Iraqi musical and traditional bands recently captivated audiences in Tunisia with performances highlighting the rich history of Mesopotamia. The cultural day featured a documentary about Iraq’s historical narrative, produced by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities.

A historical fashion show by the Iraqi Fashion House showcased the evolution of Iraqi civilization, one of the most prestigious fashion institutions in the Arab world. Following this, the Al-Taakhi troupe delivered a compelling dance performance illustrating the harmonious coexistence of communities in Kirkuk.

Musical highlights included the Angham Al-Rafidain band, which performed the Baghdad Chalghi and a recital of the Iraqi maqam, featuring renowned artists Qais Al-Azami and Taha Gharib. The Watar band from Mosul, led by maestro Mohammed Mahmoud and artist Amer Younes, enchanted the audience with traditional Mosuli folk music, including pieces by Mulla Othman Al-Mosuli.

The evening concluded with a tribute to esteemed Arab artist Lotfi Bouchnak, honoured for his significant contributions to music and culture. Attendees, including diplomatic delegations and Arab ambassadors, praised the Iraqi delegation for their impressive performances and rich cultural heritage, viewing the event as a vital step in encouraging other nations to celebrate their traditions.
