Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahaf, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to Libya, held a meeting with Mr. Taher Al-Baour, head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Libyan Government of National Unity, in the capital, Tripoli.
The discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Libya and addressing matters of mutual interest. Both parties emphasised the need for continued consultation and coordination on regional and international issues, underlining the importance of enhancing cooperation in various fields and facilitating the exchange of expertise between relevant institutions in both nations.
A key focus of the meeting was the support and welfare of the Iraqi community in Libya. Dr. Al-Sahaf and Mr. Al-Baour explored mechanisms to streamline consular procedures, ensuring the efficient provision of essential services to Iraqi nationals residing in Libya.
Furthermore, the officials discussed the activation of joint committees and the potential signing of memoranda of understanding in multiple sectors. These initiatives aim to bolster bilateral cooperation and promote shared interests in areas such as trade, investment, and diplomatic collaboration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing coordination on regional and international matters. They highlighted the necessity of unifying efforts to enhance security and stability in the region, working towards mutual prosperity and strengthening diplomatic ties between Iraq and Libya.
