Iraq’s Kirkuk Stadium Set for 2025 Completion

Specialised teams from Iraq’s Ministry of Planning are closely monitoring the rehabilitation and development of Kirkuk Olympic Stadium, with the project now 86% complete and expected to be finalised by mid-2025.

According to a ministry statement issued today, the teams recently conducted a field visit to assess the progress, identify challenges, and propose solutions to ensure timely completion. The project is designed to enhance the sports and youth sectors by providing football facilities that meet international standards, fostering local talent, and enabling the hosting of domestic and international competitions.

The upgraded stadium will have a capacity of 25,000 spectators and cover an area of 95 dunams. It features a main pitch with natural grass, built to global specifications, alongside four training fields. Additionally, a VIP building spanning four floors will house executive offices, media and broadcasting rooms, and accommodations for referees and officials. A two-storey hotel with 20 rooms and a dedicated suite for delegation heads is also part of the project.

Other key components include an administration building with a meeting hall, restaurant, and health facilities, as well as a training complex with player locker rooms. A security and information centre, landscaped gardens, and ample parking spaces will further enhance the stadium’s infrastructure. The project also incorporates 24 ticket booths equipped with modern automatic entry systems to streamline access.
