The International Labour Organisation (ILO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA), has launched an innovative Job-Matching Platform aimed at transforming employment opportunities in Kurdistan. This initiative, funded by the European Union under the Joint Social Protection Programme for Iraq, is designed to streamline the recruitment process, directly connecting job seekers with local employers and enhancing the efficiency of hiring in the region.
The platform was officially introduced at a dynamic job fair held at the Erbil International Gallery in Sami Abdulrahman Park, attracting hundreds of job seekers and employers. The event provided a space for networking, direct recruitment, and on-the-spot interviews, facilitating immediate connections between talent and opportunity.
“The platform will empower our workforce by bridging the gap between employers and job seekers, fostering economic growth and stability,” said Ms. Zakiya Said Saleh, Deputy Minister of MoLSA. The EU’s commitment to regional development was echoed by Mr. Lennart Deridder, Head of Cooperation for the European Union, who highlighted the platform as a significant step towards inclusive economic growth in Kurdistan.
The platform also aims to integrate government oversight with other private job platforms, ensuring comprehensive coverage and compliance. It offers a new avenue for showcasing local talent, benefiting both employers and employees by revealing hidden skills and enhancing the recruitment process.
This collaboration represents a major step towards improving the employment landscape in the Kurdistan Region, providing an efficient digital solution to meet the region’s growing workforce demands.
