The Ministry of Planning convened a meeting, to review the launch of the feasibility study for the Nebras Petrochemical Project, a strategic initiative aimed at diversifying Iraq’s economy. The meeting was held in cooperation with the Ministries of Oil and Industry and Minerals, and focused on the assignment of consulting company KBR to carry out the technical and economic feasibility study for the major project.
Engineer Ali Hussein Jari, Head of the Industrial Planning Department at the Ministry of Planning, highlighted the significance of the Nebras Petrochemical Project, which he described as a key pillar for diversifying Iraq’s economy and enhancing the revenue-generating capacity of related sectors. Jari emphasized that the study would provide an optimal roadmap for the project’s implementation, building on and updating previous studies to ensure its success.
The consultation with KBR is part of efforts to ensure that the Nebras Petrochemical Project is economically viable and technically sound, with a clear strategy for moving forward. The meeting included representatives from the Ministries of Oil, Industry, and Minerals, as well as experts from KBR and department heads from the Ministry of Planning involved in managing the project.
The Nebras Petrochemical Project, once completed, is expected to significantly boost Iraq’s petrochemical industry, create job opportunities, and contribute to the diversification of the national economy, positioning the country to better capitalize on its vast natural resources.
