The Ministry of Planning has announced that the Nahrawan Hospital construction project in Baghdad has reached a 72% completion rate. This hospital, located in the Al-Madain district, is designed according to international standards and covers an area of 37 dunums. With a capacity of 247 beds, the facility will provide critical medical services to over 600,000 citizens once completed.
The project features seven main buildings, including sections for surgery, emergency care, and pharmacies. Additionally, there are accommodations for doctors, rooms for guards, and a range of specialized facilities such as ultrasound rooms, blood banks, chemotherapy units, dialysis centers, and physical therapy rooms. It also includes a section for outpatient clinics, health isolation rooms, and an advanced central cooling system.
The hospital is equipped with a modern oxygen plant, a medical waste incinerator, and a dedicated electricity, cooling, and medical gases service tunnel. Notably, the facility will have an airstrip for emergency evacuations and treatment stations to handle medical waste.
This project represents a significant step in enhancing Baghdad’s healthcare infrastructure, improving access to high-quality medical care for the local population. The Ministry of Planning is working to address remaining challenges to ensure the hospital’s timely completion.
