Nasiriyah Hospital Performs Urgent Cardiac Catheterisation

In a remarkable medical achievement, the cardiac catheterisation team at Nasiriyah Heart Hospital, part of the Dhi Qar Health Department, successfully performed four emergency catheterisation procedures to save patients suffering from severe heart attacks in the late hours of the night. The patients, who arrived from various districts and suburbs of Dhi Qar, required immediate intervention to stabilise their conditions and prevent fatal complications.

Dr Farid Murad Al-Askari, a cardiologist and head of the medical team, highlighted the severity of the cases, including a 70-year-old patient from Souq al-Shuyukh district. The patient arrived in a critical condition due to a complete blockage of the left main artery, compounded by a history of chronic hypertension and smoking. The medical team swiftly performed an emergency catheterisation procedure, successfully opening the artery and implanting a therapeutic stent, ultimately saving the patient’s life at a crucial moment.

Dr Al-Askari also emphasised the crucial role of the hospital’s cardiac resuscitation staff, who provided immediate post-operative care to ensure the stabilisation of patients following their procedures. He praised the combined efforts of the medical, nursing, health, and anaesthesia teams, whose dedication and expertise were instrumental in the success of these life-saving operations.

This accomplishment showcases Nasiriyah Heart Hospital’s vital role in providing emergency cardiac care and reinforces its commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of the people of Dhi Qar.
