New Gas Pipeline to Support Iraq’s Bismayah Power Station

Under the directives of Iraq’s Minister of Oil, the Ministry is advancing the dry gas pipeline project to the Bismayah Power Station. This key initiative, aimed at boosting electricity generation, is being overseen by senior officials, including the Undersecretary for Gas Affairs and the Director General of the Oil Projects Company.

The 43-kilometer pipeline, with a capacity of 800 million standard cubic feet of gas, is located in the southern region of Iraq. Once operational, it will supply dry gas to the Bismayah Power Station, significantly boosting its efficiency and supporting the national grid. This project is a key part of the government’s broader strategy to address the country’s energy needs and improve public services.

During a recent field visit to the project site, Dr. Izzat Sabir Ismail emphasized the importance of the project in supporting Iraq’s energy sector. He praised the progress made so far and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to completing the project within the 120-day timeframe. “The national efforts of the Ministry of Oil have achieved remarkable progress in implementing the project phases,” he stated. “We are determined to complete this project according to the established plans to ensure a stable and reliable supply of dry gas to power stations across the country.”

To accelerate the project’s completion, the Oil Projects Company has divided the work among three geographical entities, allowing for simultaneous progress across different sections of the pipeline. This strategic approach has enabled the team to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high construction standards. Dr. Ismail commended the dedication and hard work of the company’s staff, highlighting their role in driving the project forward.

The dry gas pipeline project is a cornerstone of Iraq’s efforts to optimize its natural resources for economic development. By enhancing the supply of dry gas to power stations, the project will play a vital role in improving electricity generation and addressing the country’s energy challenges.

As the Ministry of Oil continues to prioritize infrastructure development, the successful completion of this project will mark a significant milestone in Iraq’s energy landscape. It underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging its resources to support sustainable growth and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
