New Iraq-Egypt Deal Boosts Land Transport Trade

Under the patronage of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, Iraq’s Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with his Egyptian counterpart, Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir. The agreement focuses on enhancing land transport for passengers and goods between the two nations.

The MoU was signed during the third session of the Iraqi-Egyptian Supreme Committee meeting in Baghdad, which was chaired by both Prime Ministers. This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties, fostering economic cooperation, and advancing modern transport solutions. It also aligns with efforts to integrate technological advancements into public transport systems.

Minister Al-Saadawi highlighted that the MoU aims to expand economic collaboration, create job opportunities, and facilitate smoother transport operations between Iraq and Egypt. The agreement will soon be implemented, allowing trucks to move more efficiently between the two countries. This will not only boost trade and logistics but also contribute to the economic growth of both nations.

By enhancing connectivity and trade routes, the partnership is expected to improve supply chain efficiency and reinforce regional cooperation. The Ministry of Transport emphasised that this initiative reflects Iraq’s commitment to openness, economic development, and strategic international partnerships.
