Iraq’s Minister of Health, Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, visited the General Company for Marketing Medicines and Medical Supplies (Kimadia) today to oversee the election of new members to its Board of Directors. The election process, which is held every three years, attracted 13 candidates vying for two available seats, with results expected by the close of official working hours.
Dr. Al-Hasnawi toured Kimadia’s facilities, where he reviewed the election proceedings and met with the current Board. He emphasized the importance of the company’s role in supporting Iraq’s health sector, highlighting how Kimadia’s operations and strategic growth are essential for advancing the nation’s medical services.
Kimadia’s Director General, Dr. Ahmed Sami, noted that the Board is composed of eight members, with periodic elections to ensure continued leadership renewal. “Supervisory committees have been established to monitor the elections here and in other governorates,” Dr. Sami explained, underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and integrity in the electoral process.
The election is seen as a step toward reinforcing Kimadia’s efforts in addressing Iraq’s healthcare needs, as the newly elected members will play a vital role in shaping policies that impact the nation’s access to essential medicines and medical supplies.
