New Schools, Bridges, and Roads Underway in Diyala’s Villages

The Ministry of Planning has announced the completion of several service projects in Diyala Governorate, executed under the Social Fund for Development plan. These projects, aimed at enhancing basic services in rural areas, will be joined by additional projects set for completion before the end of 2025.

According to the Ministry’s statement, one of the notable projects involves the construction of an iron pedestrian bridge in the village of Marjana in the Saadiya district. In addition, a concrete bridge for vehicles will be built in the village of Al-Nadafiya in the Baladruz district, with both projects slated to begin by the end of January 2025.

Other initiatives include the construction of a six-classroom school in Marjana, Khanaqin district, which is currently 70% complete and will serve approximately 2,400 residents. In the same region, a health centre is being built in Al-Rahmalah village, Saadiya district, to provide healthcare services to around 900 citizens. With a completion rate of 48%, the centre is expected to be finalised by April 2025.

Moreover, road infrastructure projects are underway, including a 4-kilometre road in Al-Qalaa village, Khanaqin district, and a 5-kilometre road connecting the village of Ashtokan in Jabara, Kifri district.

The Social Fund for Development focuses on supporting the most vulnerable and deprived groups across Iraq by improving access to essential services, creating job opportunities, and boosting local economies. These efforts aim to reduce unemployment and elevate living standards in underserved communities.
