New U.S.–Iraq Deal Boosts Economic Cooperation

In a significant step toward enhancing economic ties, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration between the American and Iraqi private sectors.

The agreement, hailed as a pivotal milestone in bilateral trade relations, sets the foundation for long-term economic cooperation. It will facilitate greater engagement between business communities, promote investment opportunities, and support the growth of trade and commercial partnerships between the two nations.

Officials from both sides highlighted the importance of private sector engagement in fostering economic resilience and mutual prosperity. The MoU signals a shared commitment to deepening economic relations beyond government channels, focusing on sustainable growth and job creation.

The signing of this agreement aligns with broader efforts to revitalise Iraq’s economic landscape and strengthen its ties with international partners, particularly in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, technology, and agriculture.

As Iraq continues its path toward economic reform and diversification, partnerships like this one are expected to play a critical role in unlocking new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
