In line with the government programme and the directives of Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, the Northern Refineries Company has successfully increased the production capacity of the Siniyah refinery, adding 20,000 barrels per day. This raises the refinery’s overall capacity to 50,000 barrels per day.
Adnan Muhammad Hamoud, Director General of the Northern Refineries Company, stated that the project’s completion aligns with the government programme introduced by Prime Minister Mr. Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and the continued follow-up by the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Refining Affairs, Mr. Hamid Younis. The initiative seeks to boost the country’s petroleum production capacities, meet actual domestic demand, and advance towards achieving self-sufficiency.
Mr. Hamoud highlighted that the new production units, the fourth and fifth, each with a capacity of 10,000 barrels per day, were completed within just six months through dedicated national efforts. This significant milestone elevated the refinery’s total refining capacity from 30,000 to 50,000 barrels per day while maintaining high-quality production specifications.
He further noted that this achievement is part of a series of successes and reconstruction projects spearheaded by the Northern Refineries Company and its supporting entities. The national workforce has played a pivotal role in rehabilitating critical infrastructure, including the Northern Refinery, Salah al-Din Refineries 1 and 2, and other essential production units.
