OPEC Meetings Postponed to 5th December 2024

The 57th Meeting of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC) and the 38th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting (ONOMM), initially scheduled for 1 December 2024, have been postponed to Thursday, 5 December 2024. The meetings will now take place via videoconference.

The rescheduling comes as several key Ministers will be attending the 45th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit in Kuwait City, State of Kuwait, which conflicts with the original meeting dates. The Gulf Summit, a critical regional gathering, requires the participation of high-level officials from several OPEC and non-OPEC countries, prompting the shift in the meetings’ timetable.

The JMMC and ONOMM meetings are pivotal events in the global energy landscape, where oil-producing countries discuss production strategies, market stability, and future policy directions. The outcome of these meetings often has significant implications for the global oil market and prices.

The meetings will now be held virtually, allowing for continued participation from ministers and senior officials despite the scheduling conflict. The agenda is expected to cover key issues related to the oil market, including production adjustments, market trends, and collaboration between OPEC and non-OPEC countries.

The change in date and format is expected to ensure smooth discussions and effective decision-making despite the logistical challenges posed by the scheduling overlap with the Gulf Summit.
