Plans to Support Iraqis Returning from the EU

In a significant meeting aimed at enhancing support for Iraqis returning from European Union countries, the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Ms. Evan Faeq Jabro, convened the Diwani Order Committee No. (23535) at the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in Baghdad. The meeting brought together committee members from various ministries and government agencies, as well as several ambassadors and heads of missions from EU countries, alongside representatives from the United Nations and other international organisations.

The agenda focused on key topics concerning the implementation of integration and stability programmes for returnees, recognising the challenges faced by individuals reintegrating into society after their time abroad. Minister Jabro highlighted the ministry’s comprehensive plan to facilitate this process, emphasising the importance of collaboration with relevant ministries, international organisations, and donor countries.

Discussions included strategies to support returnees through targeted integration projects that address their needs, ensuring they can rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities. The meeting underscored the commitment of both the Iraqi government and the international community to assist these individuals in achieving stability and reintegration, paving the way for a more prosperous future for returnees in Iraq.
